Karen Holme
Service Coordinator
Karen is a Service Coordinator with the Developmental Disabilities Program. She comes to us after retiring from teaching special education in a center-based program where she worked with students with developmental disabilities and autism. Previous to teaching, she worked in various group homes as a program counselor, and supervised group homes for adults with disabilities, then worked in supported employment as a job coach.
Karen grew up and lived with kids with developmental disabilities; her mother was a foster mother to kids with severe disabilities for many years. Her passion to work with people with disabilities has always been there and sought to work in this field as a young adult, and now as an older adult.
Karen says don’t be surprised if you see someone who looks like her. Karen has an identical twin sister who is a nurse at Wallowa Memorial Hospital in Enterprise and moved here to be close to her and her family. She also dreamed of living in a beautiful quiet rural setting where the winters are not as harsh. She likes the four seasons and does not mind winter.
