School Counseling
Helping Kids Thrive at School

In partnership with local schools, we provide school counselors at least one day a week, sometimes two days a week as well as skill trainers. School counselors and skill trainers are an integral part of the school in helping teachers, families, and students navigate their mental and emotional well-being. The goal is to help students thrive in and out of school and to be a resource to our schools and students.

Counselors provide brief individual counseling, skill training, and psychoeducation. They spend much of their time meeting with students and assessing the students’ needs so they can thrive in and out of school. Many times they engage students in additional school and community services so students and families can meet their goals and thrive.

Counselors and skill trainers also work with teachers, other school staff, and community partners tied to the schools. Many times they provide training, support, and resources to the schools and their staff. They give classroom presentations on various health topics throughout the year as well. If a crisis occurs, counselors step up and are available to schools to help them navigate the situation and heal.

Everyone's emotional and mental well-being is important to our school counselors and skill trainers. They are ready to help you thrive in and out of school and want to help you find the tools and resources so you can succeed in life.

Students also may be recommended by the school administration or requested by parents, guardians, or a teacher. Information shared by the student with the school counselor is strictly confidential and does not become part of the student’s school records.

What Happens in the Summer?

You are probably wondering what happens in the summer for kids who see school counselors regularly at the schools. They can still see their school counselors during the summer months. Yet, they have to call us at 541-426-4524 to set up appointments to see their school counselors during the summer. We would love to stay connected with them.

We have found that by continuing services over the summer kids make significant progress and enter the new school year stronger than taking a break over the summer. With our multiple locations across Wallowa County and extended hours, we can truly find a time that works with families' summer schedules to have kids connect with their school counselors.

Call us today at 541-426-4524 to get started!
